Windows 7 Starter is the latest edition to the Windows 7 range of operating systems from Microsoft.

It is basically a cut-down version of the full product for use on Netbooks. Windows Media Player is removed for one thing and this helps reduce the workload on the smaller processors in these machines.  Thats all very well and good but you need to watch out if you are buying in Spain.

Just like all laptops these days, the operating system comes pre-installed on the hard disk. Normally our job here at Oliva Computers is to remove the Spanish operating system and replace it with the English Version, as we hold all the English Disks. Not with Windows 7 though!   There is no Windows 7 Disk so we cannot change Windows 7 Starter from Spanish to English. (at this moment).  The only option at this stage is to purchase a new disk of Windows 7 Premium for an additional €120.

When this situation changes I will let you know, but please beware if you need your shiny new netbook in English.
